Marcia Britvan, MBA
Administrator
Responsibilities
As the Administrator for the Simms/Mann – UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology and its many programs--including the Individual Assessment Program, Reflections Boutique, the Psychiatry Program, and others--I am responsible for the daily operations of the Center. I supervise administrative functions, and coordinate the programs we offer. An important part of my work is oversight of the Center's financial resources and budget. I collaborate with the Director in financial planning and fund-raising.
Education
I have always been interested in health, medical anthropology and complementary medicine. I received my BA in Anthropology and an MA in Comparative Folklore and Mythology. Despite my interest in cultural anthropology, all the jobs I had while going to school were administrative in nature. and I was really good at it. I received my MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA.
Professional Work
Before joining the Center, I was the Manager of ConvergenceHealth, a company that developed on-line health assessments and medical content for major medical websites, insurance providers, and Employee Assistance Programs. I was a Program Manager for a manufacturing company where I managed a $22 million government contract retrofitting military aircraft. I also worked at UCLA Extension developing long-range plans and management policy.
Personal Perspectives
Working at the Center reinforces how important it is to have a rich personal life. I have such a great family and wonderful friends with whom I share a wide range of interests from reading, music, animals of all kinds (we do have a menagerie), films, cooking/good food and travel.
