It’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.

Milestones become very important after a cancer diagnosis. Each birthday or anniversary date that passes becomes even more meaningful after cancer treatment. The Simms/Mann – UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology provides a way to honor those important dates with the Birthday Fundraising Program. Participants in the program spend the week or month of their birthday requesting donations from friends and family in honor of their special day. The program can also be utilized by family members who would like to remember a loved one who is no longer with us during the month of their birth.
Participants set their own fundraising goal so there is no pressure to meet a specific amount. It only takes five $20 donations to equal $100.00. If 50 people donate $20.00, that will be enough money to provide services to a cancer patient, family member, or caregiver for an entire year. Most of us cannot make a $1,000.00 donation, but it is highly likely that we know 50 people that might be willing to make a donation on our behalf.
Our team has created a guidebook to help those who want to participate in the program get started with their fundraising. There are also sample letters, which can be edited to fit your specific requests. Also the Simms/Mann Center is available to help program participants prepare for and manage their personal birthday fundraiser.
