Things to Know Before Scheduling an Appointment
Please contact the Simms/Mann–UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology at (310) 794-6644 or by email to schedule an appointment for an Individualized Integrative Oncology Counseling Session or to enroll in a small group seminar.
We provide Individual Integrative Oncology Counseling Sessions and classes and our goal is to collaborate with you and your health care providers, providing you with the education you need to make healthy choices. All patients seen in our seminars or for Individual Integrative Oncology Counseling Sessions (Wellness Assessments) must have a primary care physician to provide a regular source of medical care including routine/annual prevention examinations. In addition, patients who have been diagnosed with cancer must be under the care of a medical oncologist who is responsible for the treatment of the cancer. We do not provide nor can we assume treatment for the cancer or primary medical care.
Please note, these educational programs─whether individual or in groups─are meant to be adjuncts to your regular cancer treatments and other medical care. We subscribe to the belief that cancer needs to be primarily treated by traditional Western medicine therapies which include treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, targeted therapies and hormone treatments as examples. Traditional Western medicine also includes clinical trials sponsored by reputable Cancer Centers. Our adjunctive/complementary services are designed to allow you to receive maximal therapy while minimizing side effects and maintaining your well-being.
We believe that collaboration and open communication about all interventions is necessary for you to receive the best care from your physicians, and thus, we encourage patients to share their Integrative Medicine Wellness plans with their treating physicians.
Because we are not providing medical care, we cannot be available for urgent medical needs or emergencies which should be directed to the patient’s primary care physician and/or other specialist.
