Lung Cancer: Harnessing Advances in Immunotherapy and Radiation Therapy

Lung Cancer: Harnessing Advances in Immunotherapy and Radiation Therapy

About the Lecture

Doctors Aaron Lisberg, MD, UCLA Clinical Instructor of Medicine and Percy Lee, MD, Associate Professor and Vice Chair of Education of Radiation Oncology will discuss recent advances in the treatment of lung cancer in the fields of immunotherapy and radiation therapy, respectively. An emphasis will be placed on how both immunotherapy and radiation therapy can be tailored to best serve each individual patient. Recent advances in immunotherapy have provided great benefits for patients with lung cancer. Similarly, recent advances in image-guided precision-oriented radiotherapy have led to better tumor eradication and reduced side effects. There is also data suggesting that the combination of radiotherapy and immunotherapy is synergistic in improving patient outcome in lung cancer. Finally, the multidisciplinary nature of lung cancer care and the clinical trials program at UCLA will be discussed.
