Zev Wiener, MD
Responsibilities
I joined the Simms Mann team in the summer of 2017. As a psychiatrist, I specialize in addressing the medical aspects of mental wellness. This role includes considering potential biological contributions to an individual’s mental health symptoms (such as hormone or vitamin deficiencies, medical conditions, sleep problems, and certain medications) in the context of his or her broader psychological, social, and spiritual setting, along with offering comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and treatment recommendations. When appropriate, I will prescribe medications that may help alleviate distressing symptoms.
If you choose to meet with me, we will review your history and current symptoms in detail, and I will offer my recommendations regarding medical and non-medical options that may provide benefit.
Training
I graduated from Columbia University Summa Cum Laude with a BA in biological sciences and English literature. I subsequently earned an MD degree from Harvard Medical School, and completed my residency in psychiatry at UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience, where I served as chief resident of the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Inpatient Hospital. In addition to my work at Simms Mann, I work as a psychiatrist at a number of county mental health clinics, and I run a private practice providing psychotherapy and medication management.
Personal Interests and Perspectives
I am particularly interested in the intersection of mental health, medicine, and spirituality. When not practicing medicine, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, religious studies, and playing music.
