Nearly Half of Cancer Caregivers Experience Substantial Anxiety and Feel Unprepared

The Cancer Support Community (CSC), a nonprofit organization, recently announced the results of its studies from the Cancer of Experience Registry of cancer caregivers, during the 2017 American Psychological Association Annual Convention.

From a study of 149 caregivers, results discussed that cancer caregivers experienced substantial anxiety (48% of respondents) and elevated fatigue (37%).

Other top needs identified by caregivers include:
• 72% wanted better understanding of the patient’s medical condition
• 62% wanted to learn how to manage personal stress
• 62% lacked information about available financial resources
• 54% desired guidance on how to navigate the healthcare system

Identifying these needs are significant, because caregivers who felt they had more unmet needs also reported less knowledge about the patient’s cancer. This in turn leads to increased feeling of burden and decreased preparation to provide and coordinate care.

Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more than just
your articles? I mean, what you say is valuable and everything.

Nevertheless just imagine if you added some great graphics or video clips to give your
posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with images
and clips, this blog could certainly be one of the best in its field.
    Excellent blog!
