Simms/Mann Partners with Sparks to Distribute Care Boxes to Patients with Breast Cancer

This October, the Simms/Mann center received 100 donated self-care boxes that we are distributing to patients newly diagnosed with breast cancer. We received the boxes from Sparks, a global brand experience agency headquartered in Philadelphia as part of their annual “Women in Events Week.” Women in Events Week hosts networking events for women in marketing nationwide. Each year during this event, Sparks picks a charitable organization to partner with in the spirit of empowering women and giving back. This year, they chose to partner with Unite for Her, a breast cancer resource center also located in Philadelphia that creates self-care boxes for women undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Sparks purchased a number of these boxes and donated them to us here at Simms/Mann as well as the Breast Cancer Resource Center in Austin and the Lynn Sage Comprehensive Breast Center in Chicago.

Unite for Her has taken great care in packing these boxes full of wonderful materials that have been curated by their founder, Sue Weldon, a breast cancer survivor. Each box includes skincare items such as facial cream and a salve meant to soothe chapped skin and radiation burns, all created with natural ingredients free of parabens, sulfates and other chemicals. Additionally, each box contains an herbal mint tea, a beautiful to-go mug to drink it in, and a cookbook with nutritional recipes and wellness tips. Along with the products provided, Unite for Her has created and enclosed a product guide to help patients find natural beauty and nutritional products with safe ingredients for use during treatment. These boxes are specifically tailored to fit the needs of patients with breast cancer, and we at Simms/Mann greatly value the comfort they will provide to our patients.

Sparks hopes that the distribution of these boxes will promote wellness and give patients a break to relax, take a moment for themselves, and feel empowered by using safe and healthy products during their journey through cancer. We know our patients will appreciate these wonderful gifts and we send our deepest thanks to the Sparks organization for supporting our mission and most importantly our patients!
